Community Service Opportunities:
In an effort to share our time, talent and gifts with others, we have decided to offer conference attendees the chance to participate in the VSA Arts of Iowa and Toys for Tots program.
VSA Arts of Iowa
VSA arts is an international, nonprofit organization founded in 1974 by Ambassador Jean Kennedy Smith to create a society where all people with disabilities learn through, participate in and enjoy the arts.
Your donations are going to help the Arts for Children program through the VSA arts of Iowa office. During a time of budget cuts, VSA arts of Iowa has brought the joy of participating in art back into the classroom! For over 20 years, VSAI has impacted the lives of over 200,000 children through the Arts For Children Program in the state of Iowa. This program consists of 20 professional artists with disabilities that provided in-school residences across Iowa. Students are enriched through hands-on experiences with music, painting, illustrating, stained glass, and various other art forms.
Toys for Tots
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
Registration Information:
Look for registration information to be ready the first week of August. With questions or concerns about registration before this date, please contact Mark Baccei at mark-baccei@uiowa.edu.
